They may not perform tasks in a human like manner but can surely replace human effort.

The robots are smart and can help in research and other purposes but the working in humanoid is based on giving the robot the look and feel of a human, the farfetched aim is to maximize the replacement of humans with these humanoids or minimize the human workforce.
And to do so, the development of computational models of human behaviour is taking place by the use of knowledge and it has been improving over time.
Apart from the research, humanoids are aimed to perform human tasks like assistaning someone personally, through which they should be able to assist the elderly and sick people, and perform dirty or dangerous jobs.
Some humanoid robots can do push-ups, headstands and can also play football. Some are even capable of singing and dancing.
With the advancement in technology, over the next decade, there will be an increase in the number of robots around us.
And soon we may see humanoids providing medical assistance, cleaning the floors, proving milk and also aiding in teaching.
